North Sea Resins’ Emergency Repair Kit for Paddlesports

You don’t drive without a spare tire, why do you paddle without a repair kit?

I came across this Emergency Repair Kit at the Adirondack Paddlefest. Produced by North Sea Resins, this kit can repair holes, gouges and cracks in most recreational equipment, even when wet (or under water!). This is a great kit for emergency repairs out in the field. You can make repairs in less than a minute!

The system uses a solvent-free, light-activated acrylic resin. For small holes or cracks, you roughen up the area around the hole with sandpaper supplied with the kit. Then apply a small amount of resin to a small tab; no mixing is required. Place the tab on the hole and use a Blue Light diver’s flashlight (supplied) to cure the repair for 30 seconds. It’s that simple. You can see a sample repair in the video below. The kit includes fiberglass tape for larger repairs.
